NNA - Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs published its annual report outlining the human rights landscape in Ukraine.
The Ministry claims that rule of law in Ukraine witnesses regular violations of the right to freedom and personal integrity, and records numerous cases of illegal arrests and subsequent detention, torture, intimidation, inhuman and cruel treatment, aimed primarily at forcing detainees to confess guilt. The use of torture and violence by law enforcement agencies and the Security Service of Ukraine against detainees seems to be structural, and impunity – widespread.
The report also suggests that while the relevant international organizations, such as the Council of Europe, the OSCE, a number of United Nations bodies and others pretend that nothing of the sort is happening, they are still occasionally forced to acknowledge the human rights violations committed in Ukraine.
The entire report is available on the Ministry’s official website.
