Eleven countries refuse to sign final statement of Swiss conference on Ukraine

NNA - Eleven countries participating in the Swiss conference on Ukraine refused to sign the final statement of the conference, which ends today, Sunday.

The final statement of the conference in Bürgenstock was supported by 80 of the 91 countries that participated in the forum, and the list of countries that approved the document was published by the meeting organizers.

The list of those abstaining from signing the statement included: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, India, Armenia, South Africa, and other countries.

Reuters pointed out that "a number of countries have complaints about the wording of the final statement."

According to the agency, Austrian Chancellor Karl Hammer did not indicate “the desire to hold another conference,” stressing that “it is too early to talk about Moscow’s participation.”

A conference on Ukraine was held in Switzerland on June 15 and 16 near the city of Lucerne, in the Bürgenstock resort.

It is to note that Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed on more than one occasion his readiness to negotiate based on the on-ground reality and Russia's security demands, not on "desires."
