Gibran Khalil Gibran's Art in New York showcased at Bsharri Museum

NNA - The National Gibran Committee on Thursday issued a statement inviting visitors to explore a unique facet of Gibran Khalil Gibran's art during his exceptional stay in New York from 1911 to 1931.

The committee highlighted the opening of a special and permanent exhibition titled "Gibran Khalil Gibran in New York" at the Gibran Museum in Bsharri on July 3rd. Within the framework of Beirut Art Days, the committee unveiled 23 new paintings from a collection of 27 portraits, considered some of the artist's finest work during his time in New York.

Four of the 27 paintings were previously exhibited in New York last year, including displays at the United Nations Headquarters and The Drawing Center. Each portrait depicts significant figures who influenced Gibran, such as Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung, Bahá'í Faith founder Abbas Effendi (known as 'Abdu'l-Bahá), Indian poet Tagore, American painter Albert Ryder, American artist Cecilia Beaux, among others.

The portraits are complemented by photographs of their subjects along with explanations of Gibran's relationships with each.

The statement concluded by inviting all to visit the "Gibran Khalil Gibran and New York" exhibition at the Bsharri Museum, promising a unique journey into Gibran's previously undisclosed world.
