NNA - The media office of Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Wednesday issued a statement denying a report published by "Lebanon Debate" regarding the prime minister's meeting with Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi.

The statement clarified that “it is not within the prime minister's role to propose or veto presidential candidates, as this responsibility lies with members of parliament and political blocs. The visit to the Patriarch was part of ongoing consultations, a practice Prime Minister Mikati consistently follows.”
