NNA - The death toll from a coal mine explosion in eastern Iran late on Sunday has risen to at least 51, state media reported, according to AFP.

"The number of workers killed has risen to 51 and the number of injured has risen to 20," the official IRNA news agency reported, as a result of the explosion in the Tabas mine, which officials said was caused by a gas leak.

The previous death toll from the same source had been at least 30.
