NNA - Officials and representatives from the Baalbek-Hermel region held a meeting at the House of Parliament with Baalbek-Hermel Governor Bashir Khodor and several stakeholders to discuss the issue of displacement.
Following the meeting, MP Hussein Hajj Hassan noted that "the topic of displacement and how to address it was discussed."
"It is our duty to thank all political, religious, municipal, and social authorities across all regions for their collective approach to the issue of displaced persons, despite the scale of displacement and its ramifications. There has been a national engagement at a high level. Today's meeting is related to Baalbek-Hermel, and I commend the Union of Municipalities of Deir al-Ahmar, along with the residents of Ras Baalbek, Al-Qaa, Hadath Baalbek, Arsal, and several villages that welcomed displaced persons from Baalbek."
Moreover, Hajj Hassan pointed out that "the number of displaced individuals within Baalbek-Hermel Governorate is dynamic, with the official figure being approximately 60,000, distributed across various villages." He stressed the need for daily updates on this matter and discussed the importance of re-establishing the crisis cell in the governorate, emphasizing the need to find a secure location for this crisis management team.
The lawmaker also raised concerns regarding financial resources, stating that "the expenditures made by the government concerning the displacement issue are minimal."
