NNA - Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Abdallah Bou Habib, contacted today Egypt's Foreign Affairs Minister, Badr Abdel Aati, during which they discussed the efforts and endeavors undertaken by Cairo to stop the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, and the issue of electing a new president of the republic.

Bou Habib thanked Egypt for its “great support for Lebanon and its constant standing by its side,” valuing “the role it plays with other Arab and Western countries to reach a ceasefire.”

He also thanked it for its "significant humanitarian role in Lebanon through its medical and relief aid."

For his part, Abdel Aati stressed that “Egypt is striving with all force to reach a ceasefire in Lebanon, implement Security Council Resolution 1701, and put an end to the presidential vacuum.”

In this regard, he stressed that “no external party has the right to impose a veto on any presidential candidate agreed upon by the Lebanese, or impose any candidate on them."
