MoPH contacts Atomic Energy Commission: No evidence yet of uranium use in Israeli attacks against Lebanon

NNA - The media office of the Ministry of Public Health issued a statement this evening, indicating that following news by a trade union council in Lebanon regarding the use of bombs containing depleted uranium by the Israeli occupation army, the Health Ministry contacted the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission to verify this matter.

"Commission Director, Dr. Bilal Nsouli, confirmed that there is no evidence of the use of uranium in the Israeli attacks against Lebanon so far, and a scientific statement will be issued in this regard at a later time," the statement said, asserting that the Commission coordinates with the relevant official and international bodies to this effect.

Accordingly, the Public Health Ministry affirmed the need for accuracy in circling scientific information and refraining from publishing such data without verifying its accuracy, and called for checking with the relevant authorities to ensure the credibility of the information circulated.

The statement indicated that Lebanon is about to file a complaint against Israel for using internationally prohibited weapons, but based on documented and confirmed information.
