Abiad outlines medical facilities provided to displaced families, says total death toll since October 8 reached 1,640 martyrs, 8,408 wounded

NNA - Caretaker Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firass Abiad, held a press conference this afternoon, during which he outlined the number of fallen martyrs and wounded as a result of the Israeli aggression, and the services provided to the displaced families who have fled their homes in quest of safety.

Minister Abiad outlined the below:

○ 41 health and ambulance workers have been killed and 111 injured since the start of events last October 8.

○ At least 1,640 people have been killed and 8,408 injuries since October 8.

○ The ministry received more than 2,072 distress calls, including 450 cancer patients who were referred to other treatment centers, 159 dialysis patients whose treatment was secured, and arrangements for the childbirths of 38 pregnant women, along with other medical procedures.

○ In government hospitals, free services are provided to displaced persons in collaboration with various partners that help cover any gaps. Regarding the mobile teams, the number has been increased from 25 to 50, and efforts are underway to raise it to 80 teams.

○ Distributing medicines to 197 primary care centers linked to 419 shelters - distributing milk to start on Monday.

The Health Minister concluded by thanking the various teams from the syndicates of doctors, nurses, midwives and social workers for their efforts in assisting the Ministry of Public Health, praying to the Lord Almighty to have on all the martyrs and wishing a speedy recovery for all the wounded, reminding of the extensions at the disposal of citizens for assistance: #1214 and #1787.
