NNA - The Ministry of Finance issued today a statement clarifying, once again, that what it received from “Alvarez & Marsal” Company is only a preliminary draft of its report on the audit of the Lebanese Central Bank accounts, and not the integrated and final report.
“Moreover, the role of the Ministry of Finance in this regard is intermediary between the Banque du Liban and the company, in accordance with the terms of the contract, in order to provide the data needed by the report,” the statement indicated.
It assured that upon receiving the final report, the Finance Ministry shall submit it to the Council of Ministers which has the authority to dispose of its content.
The statement also emphasized that Finance Minister Youssef Al-Khalil has responded to deputies who requested a copy of the report, explaining the principles that govern dealing with this matter.
Accordingly, the statement categorically denied what is being circulated regarding personalities or information attributed to the report, considering such news as “incorrect data aimed at creating confusion."
