NNA – Jordanian Prime Minister, Bishr Al-Khasawneh, received on Sunday, the Ministers of Agriculture in Lebanon, Abbas Al-Hajj Hassan, Iraq, Muhammad Karim Al-Khafaji, and Syria, Mohammad Hassan Katana, in the presence of Jordanian Agriculture Minister, Khaled Al-Hanaifat, following their participation in the quadripartite meeting held in Amman on possibilities of agriculture partnership between the four countries.
During the meeting, Al-Khasawneh stressed the “importance of cooperation and integration between the four countries, to enhance sustainable food security, of which agriculture is one of the most important basic elements," pointing to "the need for expanding this quadripartite cooperation to include other Arab countries."
He also affirmed "the interest that His Majesty King Abdullah II attaches to increasing regional cooperation in the field of food security, and for Jordan, in collaboration with sister Arab countries, to be a regional center for cooperation and integration in the field of food security."
As for the agriculture ministers of the four countries, they stressed "the importance of this meeting in strengthening cooperation in the agricultural field, finding possible solutions to food crises and supporting and developing agricultural production."
"The challenges posed by the global crises and the accompanying rise in freight and export wages, and the decline in production in animal and plant wealth, as well as climatic changes, reinforce our orientation to enhance the principle of Arab and regional food security," deemed the four agriculture ministers.
