Culture Minister urges UNESCO to protect archaeological sites in Tyre amid Israeli threats

NNA - The Media Office of Caretaker Culture Minister, Judge Mohammad Wissam Mortada, on Wednesday announced that following Israeli threats to bomb parts of historic Tyre, the ministry contacted Lebanon’s UNESCO ambassador, Mustafa Adib, requesting immediate action to protect the UNESCO-listed archaeological sites in Tyre, which hold exceptional global value.

Minister Mortada emphasized that Tyre’s vibrant community, rich in cultural heritage and interfaith harmony, was as a target of Israeli aggression. He called on international organizations, particularly UNESCO, to intervene and protect the city’s cultural heritage and Lebanon's civilians from ongoing attacks.
