NNA - Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib confirmed in statements to BBC Radio and a number of Arab and international media outlets, "the Lebanese Republic's rejection of targeting civilians anywhere in the world, whether in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon or Israel, and its condemnation of any party that targets civilians."

Bou Habib ruled out "the hypothesis that Hezbollah carried out the attack on the village of Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights, because since the beginning of the conflict in the south, Hezbollah has not targeted civilian sites, but only military sites."

The Minister expected that the Majdal Shams attack "was carried out by other organizations, an Israeli mistake, or an error on part of Hezbollah," calling for an international investigation or a meeting of the tripartite committee through UNIFIL to uncover the truth.

Finally, he called for "full and comprehensive implementation of Resolution 1701 (2006) from both sides," stressing that "a major attack by Israel on Lebanon will lead to a deterioration of the situation in the region and the outbreak of a regional war."
