Comment by the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon: Do Russians want peace?

NNA - The following is a comment by the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon titled “Do Russians want peace?”

“A peace summit will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16 to find and implement a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace for Ukraine through international law and the UN Charter. According to preliminary estimates, 80-100 countries will participate in the event, and the Russian Federation, the perpetrator of the war, is not on the list. This absence is evident to many, but the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Oleg Rudakov, is outraged that the Summit is taking place without his country's participation. We want to draw the Ambassador's attention to the fact that the title of the Summit contains the word "peace", and there can be no peace where the Russian Federation is present, as the first and second Chechen wars, the war in Georgia in 2008, the war in Syria in 2011, the war in Ukraine in 2014 and the full-scale war in 2022 have proved it. The Russian Federation is synonymous with war, occupation, aggression, intimidation, murder, and torture.

So, the natural question is: what will the Kremlin representatives bring to the peace summit? The international community and Ukraine have already heard enough about "the Kyiv junta, biological weapons, Lenin as the founder of Ukraine, the fact that Ukrainians are killing themselves (the events in Bucha), destroying their cities, blowing up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station and firing drones at their own largest nuclear power plant in Europe".

No one will listen to the old record about the terrorist regime in Kyiv. Since 2014, Ukraine has been negotiating with Russia in the Minsk format without success, receiving immunity and the understanding that the papers signed by Russia are not worth an iron ruble. Thus, on 30 September 2022, President of Ukraine O. Zelenskyy implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on the impossibility of negotiations with the Putin regime. We remind you that Ukraine does not negotiate with the terrorist regime, whose leader recently explained to the cameras why it is now and not in winter that Ukraine's infrastructure facilities (thermal power plants, hydroelectric power plants, etc.) are being destroyed because it turns out that it is a manifestation of "care" for Ukrainians.

The Russians are used to entering not through the door with an invitation in hand but through the window with threats and blackmail, so we advise Ambassador Rudakov not to worry about the lack of an invitation to the peace summit but to organize humanitarian aid from sunny Lebanon to the inhabitants of the flooded regions of Russia because the authorities in that country are more interested in the war with Ukraine than in their people.

The rhetorical question "Do Russians want peace?" will also be asked.”
