NNA - The head of the International Security Department at the Swiss Foreign Ministry, Gabriel Leuchinger, said that the next conference on Ukraine may be held in Saudi Arabia with the participation of Russia, according to "Russia Today."

Swiss media quoted Leuchinger as saying: “The next summit on Ukraine will not be held in Europe, and the likely location for the next conference is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

He added: "The concerned countries must take steps themselves for the next conference on the issue of the Ukrainian crisis. The matter is no longer in Switzerland's hands."

He explained: "From now on, Switzerland will work behind the scenes at the request of the main countries. In addition, Russia must now participate in one way or another."

Bloomberg reported at the end of last May that the European Union was interested in moving from the Swiss summit on Ukraine to a possible meeting in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the fall with the participation of Russia.

While Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied that there were any discussions now about a peace conference on Ukraine in Saudi Arabia with the participation of Russia.
